Please read this before you meet anyone.

The one rule that matters most

Never send money. Not cash, not gift cards, not cryptocurrency, not an investment, no matter how convincing the reason or how long you have been talking. Romance fraud is patient by design — some of it runs for months before the ask. Anyone who brings up money is running a script. Report them.

Before you meet

• Talk in the app first. There is no rush to move to another platform, and being pushed to one is itself a warning sign.
• Video call before you meet, if you can. It is the cheapest way to confirm someone is who they say.
• Search their name and reverse-search their photos.

The first meeting

• Meet in a public place. Daytime, somewhere busy, somewhere you know.
• Tell a friend where you're going, who with, and when you expect to be back. Share your location with them.
• Get yourself there and get yourself home. Don't be picked up at your home, and don't give your address.
• Keep your phone charged, and keep your drink with you.
• If something feels wrong, leave. You owe no one an explanation, and you don't need to be polite about it.

Protect your privacy

• Don't share your last name, your address, your workplace or your financial details early on.
• Be careful with photos that show a street sign, your building, or your car's plate.
• If someone pressures you for intimate photos, stop and report them. Sextortion is common and it escalates fast.

If something happens

Report the profile in the app — it blocks them and deletes the conversation immediately, and a moderator reviews it within 24 hours. For anything urgent, contact the authorities first.
